Legal Status of Cannabis and Extracts in Thailand, 2025
Although Thailand removed cannabis plants from the list of narcotics in 2022, cannabis extracts containing more than 0.2% THC by weight (or more than 0.3 mg/ml in liquid products) are still classified as Category 5 narcotics under the Ministry of Public Health's regulations.
Any extract exceeding this limit cannot be freely sold or used. Legal use requires proper authorizationeither FDA approval or prescription by a licensed physician via approved telemedicine platforms.
We are fully compliant.
Summary:
- Cannabis plants and dried flowers: Not classified as narcotics unless extracted
(New law may require a medical certificate even for dried flowers) - Cannabis extracts (e.g., oils, tinctures, sublingual drops):
- THC 0.2% (or 0.3 mg/ml) = Not a narcotic
- THC > 0.2% = Category 5 narcotic
Caution:
Manufacturers, importers, and sellers must strictly test THC levels and obtain legal licenses to avoid narcotics law violations.
