Researchers reported “improvements in core behavioral domains” following the use of CBD-dominant extracts in children.
A study published in Current Neuropharmacology reports that CBD-rich cannabis oil extracts were associated with improvements in behavioral symptoms among children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with comorbid Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Study Overview
• Duration: 3–6 months
• Assessment tool: Conners’ Teaching Rating Scale (CTRS)
• Evaluators: School teachers, providing standardized, third-party observations
Key Findings
Significant improvements were observed in:
• Anxious-shyness
• Emotional regulation
• ADHD index
• Hyperactive-impulsivity
Participants also showed trends toward reduced hyperactivity and improved attention span, although these did not reach statistical significance.
Researchers’ Conclusion
“This is the first prospective study evaluating CBD-rich cannabis for ADHD symptoms in children with ASD using standardized teacher-based assessments.
The findings suggest improvements in core behavioral domains and support emerging evidence that cannabinoids may play a role in modulating attention and emotional regulation.
Further placebo-controlled clinical trials are warranted to confirm efficacy and determine optimal dosing.”

CBD is not a cure — but evidence suggests it may be a supportive tool
when used responsibly, legally, and under medical supervision
as part of a holistic, child-centered care approach.
